At just 14 years old, Jules Gauci was already asking the big questions: Where do I fit in this world? How can I make a real impact? That early sense of purpose led him straight into the world of hairdressing-and eventually, to The Masters Institute of Creative Education.

"I decided to become a hairdresser to create that impact and be that inspiration to others." – Jules Gauci

Now a Senior Stylist at Hair Etiquette, Jules is living out the dream he first imagined as a teenager. But the journey didn’t just happen overnight. It was shaped, nurtured and empowered through his time studying Certificate III in Hairdressing at The Masters.

Finding His Place at The Masters

For Jules, the most unforgettable part of his training wasn’t just the technical skills-it was the culture of warmth and community that welcomed him from day one.

"Especially being so fresh to the industry and being around a bunch of people who have so much more experience-it was just phenomenal how inviting and supportive everyone was."

That supportive environment gave Jules the confidence to grow quickly in a space that can often feel intimidating to newcomers. And it also helped him prepare for real-world situations-something he says made a huge difference.

"We worked on real clients with real stories. That kind of hands-on experience was essential in helping me learn to communicate with all kinds of people and really prepare for the industry

Lessons, Failures and Growth

Like all good journeys, Jules’ had its share of trial and error-especially when it came to mastering one of the most technical aspects of hairdressing: toning.

"The amount of toning mistakes I made in the beginning... but we learn. And now I can tone accurately, confidently, and that’s a huge part of what I do."

Some things came more naturally to Jules-particularly creative haircuts and asymmetrical styles, which he took to with ease. But what stood out the most was how his passion for hair grew hand in hand with his confidence.

A Launchpad for the Future

One of Jules’ favourite parts of the course? Salon TM-a simulated salon environment within The Masters that allowed him to put all of his skills into practice.

"It was where I built my confidence, started developing my own clientele, and tested everything I’d learnt in a real setting."

Now, Jules credits his time at The Masters with not only shaping his skills but giving him the courage to step into the industry with purpose.

"Without The Masters, I wouldn’t have the confidence I have today. I wouldn’t be who I am now."
