From 1999’s ‘Rock Style’ to 2019’s ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’, we thought we had seen it all from the annual Met Gala, until 2020 brought us the Met that wasn’t... or not yet that is.
It’s not surprising that the official 2020 Met Gala has been postponed due to the worldwide coronavirus pandemic, so today our educators and team have selected their favourite looks of all time.
1. Blake Lively - 2018
I personally love the gilded bodice with a sheer-panelled crimson skirt, this custom-made Atelier Versace gown has got to be one of the best looks of the night. It took 600 hours to make! The back bodice is equally divine with encrusted jewels set against the bare skin sets the tone for this totally regal gown. Her ornate gown was woven with gold thread among a host of ruby and emerald jewels.
I love anything that has a historical influence, What a showstopper!

2. Darren Criss - 2019
Darren Criss at last year’s event. You can’t get closer to my personal aesthetic than this. Baroque inspired embellishment, oversized neck tie and a late 1970s early 1980s eye, it’s my idea of well thought out menswear style heaven.

3. Karolina Kurkova - 2014
My all time favorite Met Gala look is from 2014 where Karolina Kurkova floated along the red carpet in a Marchesa Ball Gown.
I love the structure and tiering of this gown along with the asymmetrical bodice. The navy blue and white hand-painted flowers against the deep dark teal satin organza material is just breathtaking.
Karolina's makeup and hair is subtle, simple and so complete. Hair up and back paired with a natural makeup design was the absolute best choice against this gown, anything more would have taken away the elegance of the finished look.
Last by no way by least is the Harry Winston jewellery. 'The king of diamonds' had done it yet again with a 55 carat diamond necklace and Queen diamond ring. Steal my heart!
This look for me is on point from top to toe. I believe it will withstand the test of time, this is my fav Met Gala look❤️

4. Billy Porter - 2019
Billy Porter looks fabulous .. and what an entrance .. to be carried in and have golden wings… cannot get more regal than that!
-Chris, T.M. Salon Manager
5. Sarah Jessica Parker - 1995
Sarah Jessica Parker's dress from Met Gala, 1995. I picked this look as my favourite because it's simple, elegant and timeless. The silhouette drapes beautifully over her body and as a sucker for comfort, it looks relaxed and luxurious at the same time. In 2020, I could wear this to any formal occasion or even something less formal, with a pair of white sneakers and feel great in it knowing it's not a fleeting fad.

6. Kendall & Kylie Jenner - 2019
When asked for my favourite red carpet moment from the Met Gala, I knew it would be hard to choose. I have always loved the met gala, but when the theme of the Met Gala for 2019 was revealed as Camp: Notes on Fashion I knew this would be my favourite red carpet to date. And it did not disappoint.
The Jenner sisters show-stopping Versace outfits are one of my all-time favourite looks. From Kylie’s hair dyed the perfect hue to match her plunging lilac embellished dress to Kendall’s VS Angel-esque wings, they absolutely nailed the theme!

7. Elizabeth Debicki - 2019
I love the volume and the draping here. And the makeup is absolute heaven!
