Take the first step into the world of Hairdressing. This introductory course will provide you with the relevant industry knowledge, training and experience necessary to kickstart your career in the dynamic hair industry.

The SHB20216 Certificate II in Salon Assistant course helps students build a strong foundation for a career in the Hairdressing industry. From the basics of health and safety, the technicalities of client-facing services, to working in an organisational salon environment, students will complete the course certificate, properly trained and industry-ready. 


The course is delivered on-campus at our Melbourne CBD location. Students will receive hands-on and diverse training over two academic semesters, taking place one day per week (Wednesday). VET Delivered to Secondary Students (VETDSS) courses follow the same term structure as secondary schools.

Careers

Students are ready to kickstart their careers upon completion of this course and start working on the salon floor as a certified salon assistant.

However the majority of our graduates go on to take an additional qualification in order to further develop their skillsets and become a qualified stylist ready to work on clients.

Please note that students commencing study July (mid-year) will receive a Statement of Attainment in place of a Certificate.
This course can only be completed as part of your secondary school studies in year 10, 11 and 12.
