A lucky few of our Makeup Students and past Alumni got the opportunity to be backstage at the 2023 Melbourne City Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour Cocktail Event through Agency T.M. For our students to be amongst all the chaos and energy of an event, being able to keep calm and still work exceptionally well under pressure is a focus point for our current students, having to do 4 models each in under 2 hours.
Amongst the glitz and glamour (and chaos) of a behind the scenes of a fashion runway show, we managed to speak to our Students and Alumni on their experience at the show.
For one of our current makeup students, Tayla, she felt really good after her first event.
“A part of me feels stressed, but so accomplished at the same time. It was such a good experience, and one I will seek out during my time at The Masters to be able to get my name out there and get the experience.”
“The Masters has given me the platform to do this and has given me so many opportunities to boost my confidence so when I’m in the industry and have opportunities to do these types of events in the future, I know what I’m doing.”
For one of our student alumni, Julia, doing multiple events during her time at The Masters and now beyond, sees doing jobs like this “worth it” for her brand and exposure.
“I trust The Masters to give me these opportunities to grow my brand. When I was at The Masters, I wanted to do as much as I could and that has now set me up to build my confidence and I have now been able to do other shows like this and have been well prepared for any type of client and environment. For example, with shows like this one in particular, we were in high pressure and didn’t have much time to complete the looks, but we were able to get it done”
