Our makeup course can lead you down tons of different career paths—for example, after learning all about makeup and the industry at The Masters, our brilliant alumni Maliya followed her dream of being a beauty influencer and is now running a YouTube channel with almost 18,000 subscribers! We got the low-down on how she got to be where she is today. 

What do you love about makeup?

I love helping people feel confident—myself included! I draw a lot of inspiration from colours and new product launches. I love to try new things and share my opinions about them. I’m loving Katie Jane Hughes and NikkieTutorials on Instagram at the moment!

Tell us about your time at The Masters. What were your favourite parts? 

I learned so much about makeup—of course! Having all that knowledge has made me so confident in my makeup abilities, especially when filming videos for my YouTube channel. I also loved that we got a lot of opportunities to test our skills in real runways and campaigns—I did makeup backstage at a graduate runway and I also participated in Project T.M., which was amazing. Plus, we learned about hair styling, which was great.

What are your goals for the future?

I want to achieve a lot within the next few years. I want to keep building my YouTube audience and become a great beauty influencer. Before I graduated, I didn’t know what career path I wanted to go down, so I had planned to be a freelance makeup artist. But now that I’ve been creating content for a while, I find it really fun to be creative and create interesting content for my followers.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking about studying at The Masters?

Cherish your time studying at The Masters! It’s like a big family. You’ll learn a lot of skills, so be prepared to work hard. And be confident!
