One of our amazing makeup alumni, Lauryn, landed an incredible role as a makeup artist at Napoleon Perdis after graduation. She chatted to us about what she learned at The Masters, her favourite things about makeup, and where she gets her inspo! 

What do you love about makeup?

I love being able to change my mood just by putting some makeup on—my mood is always what inspires my look for the day. I’ve been following smaller Instagram pages and supporting new artists like myself to see what other people are doing and getting inspiration from them as well!

What did you learn at The Masters that has helped you get to where you are today?

I learned so much throughout my time at The Masters! I learned how to be confident and push myself out of my comfort zone. I had so much fun and definitely grew as a person.

What kind of industry experience did you have while studying at The Masters?

A definite highlight for me was getting to work with Nicole ‘Pinky’ Thompson. I also got to work backstage at fashion shows such as RMIT and Myer Spring Racing Show which were amazing!

What are your goals for the next few years?

I want to continue in retail, work my way up and gain more experience. I can’t see myself doing anything other than makeup. I could also see myself starting to freelance a bit more! 

Any words of wisdom for anyone thinking about studying at The Masters?

Enjoy it! It goes so, so fast and in no time it’ll be your last day. Take every opportunity you can—they will help you gain skills and confidence!
