Say hello to beauty alumni Mikaela, a beautician at Endota Spa and the Health & Beauty Editor for Melbourniseme! We were super excited to get to chat to her about her career and her time spent studying at The Masters.

What do you love about beauty therapy?

I’m most passionate about skin! It’s so important to prevent photo-ageing and educate people on their own skin. I think health and wellbeing is essential and skin is the first place to start. Our skin is the largest organ on our body, so why wouldn’t you want to take care of it?

What did you learn during your time at The Masters that has helped you in your career?

I learned a lot about cosmeceutical ranges and built a really in-depth knowledge on skin and treatments. I loved attending events and getting to practice practical skin treatments, and I loved the Thursday salon days! All of my instructors were so knowledgeable and encouraged us to think beyond graduation and to be more than just a student. We got to work alongside the makeup team at a lot of events, which gave us a lot of insight into our industry.

What are your goals for the next few years?

My goal is to continue studying and up-skilling. I hope to eventually run my own skin and beauty clinic. It’s a huge dream of mine! I don’t think I’ll ever stop learning and studying—the industry is forever changing and adapting, so there’s always plenty to learn.

What advice would you give to students who are thinking about studying at The Masters?

Beauty therapy covers all sorts of units and really prepares you for the real world. If you start at the bottom and work your way up, you’ll find that so many opportunities come your way, which will help you succeed in your industry. Having a diploma from The Masters will make you stand out in such a big, competitive field.
