Have you been thinking about making your beauty routine a little more eco-friendly? The good news is, there are so many easy swaps you can make to ease into a more sustainable beauty cabinet!

We chatted to Laura Perry, Head of Product at one of our favourite eco-friendly, plastic-free beauty brands, Seed & Sprout! She spoke to us all about Seed & Sprout, the brand’s personal care and beauty product range, and gave us tips for anyone who wants to transition into a plastic-free, sustainable beauty regime.

Tell us a bit about Seed & Sprout.

We’re an eco-lifestyle brand born and bred in Byron Bay. We started from humble beginnings and have grown from a single offering of a plastic-free lunchbox to a diverse range of 100% plastic-free products across several categories. The brand first came about when founder Sophie was struggling to find a plastic-free lunchbox that suited her son, Archie, and the rest was history! Our mission is to help people reduce single-use plastics in their life by providing beautiful eco-products that make the plastic-free switch simple.

How did the Seed & Sprout Personal Care Collection come about?

The collection came about in a pretty natural way. Our product development process is a complete extension of Sophie’s journey; whenever she is looking for a plastic-free solution in her life, we brainstorm ways in which we can meet that need. Sophie was looking for plastic-free solutions in her bathroom and was looking for products that didn’t sacrifice on quality. We dove headfirst into research in development to find the best ingredients and packaging solutions. The extension into personal care and beauty products is one that we had wanted to do for a while and we’re so excited to see how well they’ve been received by our customers.

What makes Seed & Sprout’s personal care products a better option than traditional products?

Firstly, they’re all 100% plastic-free, which is completely a non-negotiable for us. We also put a lot of time and research into product development to create a comparable range (if not even better!) than what people have in their bathroom cupboard so that we can help make the plastic-free switch an easy and sustainable one.

We also believe that what we leave out of our products is just as important as what we put in. All of the products are free from microplastics (which are a huge contributor to plastic pollution in the beauty industry), synthetic fragrances, sulphates, phthalates, parabens, and palm oil. Plus, they’re vegan and 100% cruelty-free. The customer experience is always at the forefront of our product development so that customers don’t need to sacrifice an eco-alternative for a good product experience.

What are some tips for anyone interested in transitioning to a more sustainable beauty routine?

For those who are just starting out on their sustainable beauty journey, I’d recommend starting by switching from bottles to bars. It’s an absolute game changer! Not only do they help save plastic bottles from ending up in landfills, but they also have incredible benefits for your skin and hair. Once you try them, you won’t look back.

Another tip would be to get to know the ingredients list on the products you currently use. Synthetic fragrance and harmful chemicals are ones that you want to avoid—once you know better, you can do better for your own health and also the environment.

What do you hope customers get out of Seed & Sprout products?

Our main goal is to make the plastic-free switch as seamless as possible for our customers. We want customers to feel good when they use our products and know that they’re doing their bit for the planet at the same time, without sacrificing style or quality.

What else can customers expect from the Seed & Sprout personal care range?

We’ve just released a 100% Plastic Free Face Oil and Gua Sha Tool, which has been beautifully received and provides a little glimpse into what’s next for us… but we’ll leave it at that for now. Stay tuned!
