It happened very organically as I was originally a makeup artist and found jewellery making to be another creative outlet for me. When I took the plunge to focus on By Charlotte full time it was scary but I’ve never looked back.
Have you always been interested in jewellery?
I’ve always loved fine, delicate jewellery and used to play for hours in my mum’s jewellery box when I was little and play dress ups with her beautiful jewels.
By Charlotte is a distinctly spirited brand. How are you spiritual on a personal level and what do these symbols mean to you?
Meditation is important to me, I think it’s important to take time to slow down and reconnect with yourself. Reminding yourself of what is important in life and what you are grateful for is a beautiful way to reset your energy. I like my designs to hold a deeper meaning so that you can carry that meaning or intention with you throughout your day.
What do you do when you're feeling uninspired?
I find getting back to nature very calming and when I feel relaxed my mind can create. Meditation classes really help me tap into my creative side as well, as they force me to be away from screens and other distractions and it’s when some of my best ideas and designs have occurred.
What part of your job would people find most surprising?
Perhaps that I’m across all aspects of the business? From helping our beautiful girls in our Paddington store, to online enquiries, social media and everything in between!
Which piece defines By Charlotte the most?
Our Lotus Necklace is definitely synonymous with the brand. It was my first design and to this day continues to be loved by all of our beautiful customers.

What has been career highlight so far?
It would have to be when I was still working as a makeup artist and was creating jewellery in my spare time. I was doing Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s makeup for a Harper’s Bazaar shoot and the team asked if she could wear my necklace I was wearing on the day. It was the Lotus and Little Buddha Necklace and it ended up as the magazine cover. I think when I saw that cover I knew I had to give By Charlotte a proper opportunity to flourish.
